News and Events - May 2023

Dear Yogis,

I hope that you have all enjoyed the bank holidays so far in May, just the 1 left! It does leave me feeling very confused about what day of the week it is!

I have just completed my first module of the Yoga Therapy Diploma, wasn't the best timing since it coincided with the Coronation and was in London, but it was amazing. I will be trying some of my new knowledge out in your classes, you have been warned.

Next week we will be returning to alternate nostril breathing and moving towards dominant nostril breathing. An explanation for you to practice at home is below:

Alternate nostril breathing

Cover one nostril with your thumb as you slowly inhale through your other nostril, then close your other nostril with one of your free fingers and pause before removing your thumb and slowly exhaling through that side. Keeping your finger-side nostril closed, inhale through the thumb-side nostril, close the thumb-side nostril and pause before opening your finger-side nostril and exhaling to complete a round.

How often: this can be done as many times as you want to during the day. I would personally aim for 5-10 rounds of this breath.

When: This is all about steadying yourself for a task. It’s very calming and a great way to start the day or pregame your workout or race.

Services

Just a reminder that you can also book Reiki and Indian Head Massage sessions with me. These can be done through the app or by sending me a message.

There is now a running club (BRAS) for beginners on a Wednesday night at 6pm. Meet at the George V playing fields, the entrance nearest to Haltemprice. Booking is via the app.

I also teach private yoga sessions if you want to work on a specific pose, area or just to get yourself back into yoga after a break or as a beginner.

It’s what month?

Dear yogis, I'm sure many of you are feeling a little like me and wondering how on earth we are at April already!? Whilst eating your Easter Eggs (can you start before Easter? How many is too many?)
